Michael Lewis never ceases to amaze me with the clarity and humanity that he manages to bring to stories about finance. If there is any silver lining to the financial crisis it is that one of the 2 best working non fiction writers began his career as a bond trader so has some understanding, and more importantly, contacts in the generally opaque world of high finance.TAGS

I understand why people are upset about the AIG bonuses, but I really think that people are focusing WAY too much attention on it. It is less than 1/10 of 1 percent of the money we've given to AIG. We need our leaders to focus their attention on big problems, not ones that make for good populist outrage. Furthermore, for better or worse, we as taxpayers are now the majority shareholders of the company, and as bad as they've been run, we have to recognize that it could very possibly be worse were they to face a mass exodus of staff.TAGS
