This document describes the Open Publication Distribution System (OPDS) an application of the Atom Syndication Format intended to enable content creators and distributors to distribute digital books via a simple catalog format. This format is designed works interoperably across multiple desktop and device software programs for acquiring and consuming eBooks ("Reading Systems"). The focus of this document is to outline the requirements for preparing catalogs for use by compatible Reading Systems; formal compliance requirements for Reading Systems will be documented elsewhere. This application of Atom was initially defined and implemented by Lexcycle for the Stanza application.

Subj3ct is an infrastructure technology for Web 3.0 applications. These are applications that are organised around subjects and semantics rather than documents and links. Subj3ct provides the technology and services to enable Web 3.0 applications to define and exchange subject definitions.

The Apache Cassandra Project develops a highly scalable second-generation distributed database, bringing together Dynamo's fully distributed design and Bigtable's ColumnFamily-based data model.

Cassandra was open sourced by Facebook in 2008, where it was designed by Avinash Lakshman (one of the authors of Amazon's Dynamo) and Prashant Malik. In a lot of ways you can think of Cassandra as Dynamo 2.0.

When I asked myself why people visit my sites, and the ones that I make for other people, the answer was always for the content. Content that is almost always written words and that means type.

That is why I'm now advocating to my clients (and to you), that where feasible, not to waste hours in time and a client's money on lengthy workarounds in an unnecessary attempt at cross-browser perfection. Instead, you and I should provide simple but effectively designed HTML elements. This means great typography for headings, paragraphs, quotations, lists, tables and forms and no styling of layout.

More than that, I intend to serve exactly the same Universal Internet Explorer 6 CSS for all sites (give or take a little branding here, or a touch of customization there). This will pay dividends for me, reduce wastage for my clients and give end-users a well-designed, well-presented view of what they come for - content.

This document describes the "tag" Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) scheme. Tag URIs (also known as "tags") are designed to be unique across space and time while being tractable to humans. They are distinct from most other URIs in that they have no authoritative resolution mechanism. A tag may be used purely as an entity identifier.
